The Olbia city is situated at the bottom of a deep inlet and a home to Sardinia’s main harbour and tourist airport. Olbia has become a rich and important town due to its fertile hinteland and its strategic positions for the trade towards other mediterranean countries.
Among attractions are the museums, the resort of the Costa Smeralda, Porto Rotondo and the beaches. The best beach close to Olbia is the Lido of Pittulongu is famous for its beauty and many tourist services. Equipped with a small tourist harbour it is a departure base for excursions to the famous tourist destinations of the north east coast and the south east coast.
