
Sardinia
Sardinia is situated in the middle of the western mediterranean surrounded by shallow seas. The coasts are generally high and rocky and in many sections run more or less straight, it is more rugged and broken in large sections in the north west and north east. There are three major rivers, the Flumendosa flowing in the southern part of the east coast, the Triso flowing into the Gulf of Oristano and the Coghinas flowing into the sea in the north.
Sardinia is famous for its food, wine, culture, archtecture and archeology. Some of the attractions in Sardinia are the Nuraghi famous for its mysterious prehistoric cone shaped buildings more than 700 of them si the Nuraghe Su Nuraxi one of the largest and most impressive one, the Nora an archaeological site much of which is under the mediterranean and the Barbagia a marvellous mix of forested hillsides and meadows.
